Launched by Georgia business leaders, goBeyondProfit is a first of its kind initiative of civic-minded business leaders that shines a light on corporate generosity of all kinds and invites every business leader across Georgia to join.

Women United is a network of dynamic women leaders committed to engagement in the community through the works and programs of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley. The mission is to mobilize the power of women to advance the common good in our community.

Nationally, the organization was founded over a decade ago! From a handful of determined and passionate individuals, this idea has grown into a national network of some 70,000 women leaders in more than 165 communities who have raised and invested more than $1.5 billion. And, over the last 12 years, this has been one of the most successful philanthropic effort of its kind.

Women United serves our local community through many volunteer opportunities organized for members and those looking to get involved. The most significant event is the Power of the Purse Luncheon. This event is held every year in the fall. Attendees are asked to participate in the “Wear One, Bring One” collection, which highlights Women United’s service project to collect and distribute undergarments to women in need throughout our community. We have collected more than 10,000 undergarment items and funded more than 700 vouchers to purchase new undergarments. Through the success of this luncheon we started a new Scholarship Program for non-traditional female students in 2017. YTD, we have awarded $7500 in scholarship dollars and are looking to award an additional $7,500 for 2019. Through the scholarship program we have also created a Mentor/Mentee program for scholarship recipients.

Brookstone Wealth Management Founder, Tami McDonald, has been honored to serve as past Board Chair, Event Chair and current Scholarship Chair for United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley – Women United Advisory Board.

The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

Knowing first-hand the devastating effects of this disease and the value of this organization with the impact that it makes in our own community, Brookstone Wealth Management Founder Tami McDonald has teamed up with the Director of Programs and Services, David Marlowe, to assist in educating our community on the financial issues associated with Alzheimer’s Disease.  The Alzheimer’s Association brings a program to the community on the “legal and financial planning for Alzheimer’s Disease” several times a year and brings in experts in the field of legal and finance to help with the events and answer any questions attendees might have that is not covered in the program.
